A Weekend

Consider I had a nice weekend even though had to work on and off on Saturday because month-end closing. Have to make sure month-end data upload is OK for 3 regions.

Beside work, what else I did?

1. Watched Singapore Dragon Boat Competition on Saturday. Wanted to give HC support for the competition. Too bad due to bad weather, his team did postpone to Sunday morning.

I realized that this was the 1st time I saw a real dragon boat. Before that, I
only saw it in picture or TV. 2. Went to Botanic Gardens. I am so impress that Singapore has such nice garden in the city. Just like New York City has a Central Park. Spent almost 5 hours there but still not able to explore the whole garden. Definitely I will go there again.
The Ginger Beer I bought outside the Ginger Garden. It is just ginger juice without alcohol.

Wish she can get the happiness which she is looking for. 3. Went to Orchard Rd for the Christmas Lighting. This year is much better than last 2 years at least more colorful. As usual, did go to Nee Ann City and visit the big Christmas Tree. The words came out from my mouth immediately when I saw the tree: Oh SHIT. Damn UGLY.

The World Wonders # 8 and # 9 in Singapore

Discussed with my colleagues about 2 social issues or “cultures” in Singapore. I would like to nominate them: The World Wonders # 8 and # 9 in Singapore.

World Wonder Number 8: Majority People in Singapore Are Blind

Many people know that the yellow line out side the MRT door/gate means: Please give way to people to get out from the train before you get in. However, if you monitor people in the MRT station, 60-70% of them are “BLIND”, so they “CAN NOT SEE” the yellow lines.
I took this photo in Raffles Place MRT station today. We can see many people stand inside the yellow lines and block the door (so sorry that most of them are ladies). Because of this, in Singapore, it is interesting that people in side the train can not get out and people out side the train can not get in.

I can’t comment those people who stand inside the yellow lines are non-educated because I am sure they are not. The only comment I can give is this is Education Failure in this country.

World Wonder Number 9: Use Tissue to “Chorp” Seat
I have traveled more than 70 cities around the world; Singapore is the only city/country has this kind of culture: Use tissue to “chorp”seat. This means: “I put my tissue here. This seat/table is mine. No1 allows to touch/use it (by “LAW”??? I am wondering). This is another example of Education Failure in this country.

By the way, what people do make me link to what dog does. Dog likes to pee here and there. It means: I pee here and there. This area is mine. No1 allows to come in (by “LAW”??? For sure the answer is NO). Don’t you think use tissue to “chorp” seat is same as use uric to “chorp territory?

Of course, people in Singapore are SMARTER than a dog. They won’t go to food courts and pee on the seat/table. They use tissue.

I "stole" this picture from my colleague’s blog. So sorry, is lady again. I can count 4 tissues packs so it means the seat “chorp” by 4 people.
P.S why I use “people in Singapore” but not Singaporean? Reason is people who do that may not be only Singaporean. Some of them may be foreigners. To be able to “LIVE” like some of the Singaporean, foreigners must adopt the cultures in Singapore: To be BLIND or use tissue to “CHORP” seat.

I HATE Sunday

A normal Sunday, on my way home inside the MRT. Suddenly I felt so depress because the next day was going to be a damn Monday.

Now I realized that actually the most I hate is Sunday but not Monday. I hate the terrible feeling when I am waiting for a bad thing to be happened. The damn bad thing is tomorrow is a Monday. Think this kind of feeling is same as when a criminal who is waiting to be executed. He/she is counting down how many second he/she left for his/her life.

Monday is not that frightening because whatever needs to be happened has already happened. It is a fact and I can’t change it.

L happened to call me when I was frustrated with “I hate Monday or I hate Sunday or I hate Monday or I hate……?????? ” Totally no mood to talk to him. Conclusion from him is: AGAIN, You are SICK.

I Have A Dream - In the Name of Martin Luther King, Jr. (Part II)

I Have a Dream’ and it comes true today.

Received below from my US colleague after I shared the above with her. I was telling her: God bless America.

I think I am being a bit too excited about the election.

Rosa sat so Martin could walk (rosa parks sat in a drugstore)
Martin walked so Obama could run
Obama ran so our children can someday fly

I Have A Dream - In the Name of Martin Luther King, Jr.

http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm

Even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."²

Change Has Come to America

"Change Has Come to America". I really like this headline.

I wonder when people in the low class country can use the same headline. Wait for a million years or infinity?

He WON and He Makes History

Final conformation; Obama WON. He is the 1st black president of the United States of America.

When some people in a low class country still screaming of they want to protect their special authority and benefit because they are native of the country and other races are only the passengers, people in The United States of America proved to the world that they can make a DIFFERENCE and make a CHANGE.

A New Chapter of the World History

Monitoring the USA Presidential Election now with my USA colleague. We even postponed our conference call this morning because every1 wants to follow up with the latest result.

We have a same goal; we want Obama to make a new chapter of history.

The latest update is Obama...........WON.

Extreme Life Style

I realized that some time I am a bit extreme. When chest pain and had difficulty to breath, I went to climb Mount Faber.

When I am very sick with fever, body ache, headache, sore throat, I went to eat chili crab and pepper crab.

Sometime I am wondering whether I am trying to kill myself.

Another ex-OCBC colleagues gathering. Met RJ and M @ House of Seafood @ 180. http://www.houseofseafood.com.sg/

After finished two 1.3KG crabs, the only thing I felt was: disgusting & vomit.

Anglor Wat - Cambodia

Today I got my e-ticket to Cambodia. After planed for more than a year, finally I am able to make it. Now I am only a step away from Anglor Wat. Must thanks HC for arranging.

Ok, don’t keep reminding me that Cambodia is poor, dusty, a lot of flies and mosquitoes. Also Anglor Wat doesn’t have air-con, Prada, CK, Agnes B, Starbucks, nice food and so on but only stone. I know.

Halloween 2008

Met my OCBC Bank ex-colleagues for dinner in Halloween. Didn’t meet Karen for almost 3 years and didn’t have change to chat with Jocelyn after I left UOB since 2005 (Jocelyn is my ex-colleague from Keppel TatLee Bank, OCBC Bank and UOB Bank. We were in Global Data Warehouse Team). LL don’t need to mention, we meet so often and her name does appear in my blog quite often too. Oh, she is my OCBC Bank and HP ex-colleague. Now we are very good friend.

Went to a Japanese BBQ Restaurant – Gyu-Kaku in Chijmes for dinner. The food is good but bit expensive. Minimums spending is about SG$70 per person. Anyway, if you like Japanese style BBQ, you can try.

After dinner, met Finn for drink. We changed 3 drinking places till 3am. After supper and called for cab for more than 30 minutes, finally reached home at 4:30am. We decided not to go out on Friday night when it is a big day. It is really terrible and so difficult to get a cab.

Too bore when wait for the cab. Took these funny photos just for fun.
