HP Birthday Gathering - Oct 08

Went to Humble House for our (Michelle, Karen, Howe Cheong and I) birthday.
A simple birthday gathering but enjoyable. No exception, we were the group that made a loudest noise.

Mt Faber

Today is on sick leave. Chest pain since last night till now. The whole night I wasn’t able to sleep because of the pain. Did do ECG in end Aug, so, not so worry about is heart attack. Doctor said may due to stress. Asked to relax and not overwork. If pain continues, may need to do another ECG soon.

Wanted to rest at home because the side effect for the medication is strong drowsiness. However, the flat I stay is upgrading the lift. The noise is killing me and driving me crazy. With no choice, lift the house and tried to find a quiet place.

Decided to go Mt Faber, the second “highest” mountain in Singapore. Wanted to visit the Henderson Waves for long time. Finally I got a chance.

Didn’t expect it is so difficult to get up to the peak. I was half dead after reached there. Started from Alexandra Road till reached Vivo City, the whole trip took about 2.5 hours.

Henderson Waves As usual, must take a photo because: 到些一游. This is 相思 tree and 相思豆, when talk about 相思豆, people always remember:

However, for myself, the most I like is the 红豆曲 from 贾宝玉.

Laptops Killers

After “killed” 2 DELL D410 laptops (1st one already changed all the parts (hardware, keyboard, touchpad, wireless card and screen but still didn’t work fine for me. 2nd one I broke the screen), finally I get a new DELL D430. I like it because it is smallest and lightest. However, the screen is a bit too small and is difficult for me to read. So, have no choice, I need to wear specs now.Compare with D410, my new laptop is smaller. Compare with my personal laptop, D430 is much smallest.

Reading Problem

韩国吧里男女平等的厕所，让我想到在日本北海道地狱谷里会说日语的厕所...

那时候我蹲着小便，很专注的，很小心的，怕一不留神钝到屁股，
一阵冷风吹过，我抬眼一看，

ah... 日语厕所，
oh my god, u need to speak Japanese to "communicate" with the toilet?!
为了留作“纪念”，在蹲着的姿势下（p.s. 只有蹲着才看得到这个signage），我拿出了相机拍下留念。

就差一个字，make so much difference....

I have a problem; sometime what I read is not what I see. What does it meant? Meant I have reading problem. If not wrong, the correct name is – Dyslexia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyslexia

For example, I want to write “us” but what I write is “user”. Regardless of how many times I read the word, I see it as “us” without “er” behind. Most of the time must wait until others point out for me then I notice. Otherwise, it is going to be a “us” without “er” for me.

This can be the reason why I easily get lost where there are 2 places with similar name. Classic examples are Bugis - Bishan and Clementi – Admiralty. 1st set because they start with a B and 2nd set because they ended with “ty”. So, for me, they are the same when I read.

I Am Busy

I am busy so I can’t go gym often.
I am busy so I only able to clear my last year annual leave yesterday.
I am busy so I have many unread magazines sit on my desk.
I am busy so I am not able to visit my parents as often as I used to.
I am busy so I am not able to visit Thailand after talk for so many years.
I am busy so I am not able to meet some of my friends for ages.
I am busy so I am not able to take the classes I want to take.
I am busy so…
I am busy so…
I am busy so…
I am busy till I don’t understand why I am so busy.

Something about My Birthday 2008 Part (3)

Received Blur Blur from V because it is my birthday Dooodolls. What a coincident. I am so blur and my birthday doll also name Blur Blur.

Who is Blur Blur?
Lira: September 23 – October 22
Blur Blur has two antennas on his head that serve as sensors for approaching threats.
Because of my “blur”, I lost many things in my previous travels. Heart pain. :(

Geneva – Switzerland (June 2008)
Left my passport on the check in counter more than half an hour. Fortunately, no1 took it. :) Nantong – China (July 2008)
Left the Pin Chew jade in my jeans pocket. Sent the jeans for laundry and the jade never came back. I also lost the Gua Yin jade in Singapore and broke on of the tortoise’s leg. :( Melaka – Malaysia (Sep 2008)
Left my team building photo and certificate in hotel. :( Hong Kong (Oct 2008)
Left one of my Agnes B belts in hotel. Similar to this one. So sad. :(

Something about My Birthday 2008 Part (2)

The same Monday, met LL for dinner. Did guess she was going to treat me for the dinner. No mistake, when paid for the bill, she told me the dinner was for my birthday.

Want to thank LL. Not only because of the dinner. Also for the support, courage, concern and everything in the past few years (so fast, 6 years already since 2002). Sometime I find it is not easy to express my thankful. So, I am going to use the most simple and easy way to do that, say: THANK YOU! :)

Something about My Birthday 2008 Part (1)

Monday AP IS had a pantry meeting. Pantry meeting, sounds interesting right?

Actually it was a quarterly birthday gathering. It gives us a change to celebrate our birthday with colleagues. Whoever’s birthday falls into the quarter, he or she is the birthday star of the quarter.

It is a simple gathering. No good and expensive food but I felt the effort and sincerity. The effort and sincerity to bring every1 in IS team together. The effort and sincerity to make the working environment more warming and friendly.

Some1 has broke the IS team into difference pieces and broke the links between others. Some1 has brought an ice storm into the team and frozen everything. After some1 left, everything must rebuild and put into the proper place.

Thanks YT for coming out for this idea and contributing the fund for the gathering. Thanks Connie for arranging and buying the nice birthday cards.

Hong Kong 2008 2nd Trip - Day 6

What can I do when I am 12192 meters above sea leave? Usually I am watching movie, listening to song, checking the photo I took or writing blog. Finished my Hong Kong trip. On the way back to Singapore. Today went out with Tracy for breakfast, shopping and then we went to The Peak.

Want to thank her for accompany me on today and on Monday, especially she is not feel well since last week. It is really good to meet up again after 12 years. I did tell her, most of the time, people lost contact with others after a while they don’t see others. Also, it is not point to for them to keep in touch with some many people. Somehow, people in and out from our lives so rapidly.

Our case is rare. We didn’t see each others since 1996. Only contact once in a while (used to no contact for more than a year). However, we still feel like in the school year, quite close to each others.

Today we told a about our school lives, schoolmates and we miss Cedar Rapids very much. Life there was slow, peaceful, very boring sometime but memorable. Hope one day we can go back to the cities when we studied before.

When we said goodbye to others, we gave each other a hug. A hug for friendship and for blessing.

Promised her to bring her for chili crab when she is in Singapore. Hope her airline will assigned her to flight to Singapore.

Found this bag in I.T. When I wanted to pay, Tracy already passed her credit card to casher and said to me: Happy Birthday. After 12 years, I visited The Peak again. A lot of changes in Hong Kong after 12 years. This is the design I chose for a T-shirt in a shop at The Peak. The shop owner has a shop in KL and going to migrate to Singapore soon. He was happy to know I am from Malaysia and gave me a free gift: print some words in my T-Shirt. Tracy suggested to print my name: ALFIE. Happened to “attend” a church wedding.
